About
This app idea originated in 2019 (7 years ago!) in London. I had just started my first job as a software engineer, and though I had a love and fascination for languages, I was struggling to fit it into my busy schedule.
The first version was called "Learnification" (a portmanteau of 'learning' and 'notification'). It worked only on Android, and I sadly never released it for public use. To build something usable and delightful for others requires more work and consideration than making something only for your own use. The app remained unchanged for some years, and I've since started using an iPhone. Nevertheless, I always dreamed of releasing this app for use by others, because I know how useful had been for me. Thanks to recent developments in technology that you're doubtless aware of, the time and effort required to make this happen has become easily surmountable, and that's why in early April 2026, the Banyan Flashcards app will be available for download in the iOS App Store!
I hope you love the app and it helps you achieve your language learning goals.
